Tablet only at this time.
The x20/x30 models will receive traffic/weather/fuel via your hotspot, but have to be updated via the PC/Mac.

WiFi and Bluetooth actually give you some of the "same" choices as a programmer, but also many drastically "different" choices as a programmer.
WiFi can handle large chunks of data (like map updates and video streams, etc.) Bluetooth has a WIDE user connectivity market (because just about everyone now has a smartphone or tablet with Bluetooth.) Wifi connects further away than Bluetooth but typically does not do cool "audio tricks" like hand-free calling, wireless speakers. Both can do neat peripheral stuff (wireless keyboards and mice) but Bluetooth generally makes better sense for those too.
Rand has pioneered this WiFi addition to the truck PND market and I think that it has rather huge potential. Bluetooth has been around on PND devices for a while and is a "mature and stable" wireless protocol in them as such. But none are using them yet for large updates (i.e. maps and main program updates) because of the data chunk sizes and checksum requirements (i.e. risk of large, important data corruption.)
So no map updates on any wireless protocol on the stand-alone devices... yet.Sean_Reno Thanks this. -
the one you posted. was in a company category. to which i don't work for. nor do i roam there.
occasionally, i might remark if it's a new thread standing out at the moment i happen to be surfing the sight.Sean_Reno Thanks this. -
Snowy, Knowing how fond you are of copilot I'm a little surprised.. Other than the politics area it makes no difference to me what company or thread.. So be it sir..

Comparing the RM730 and the Dezl 760, looks like the Garmin has a slight advantage over the RM. While the RM's wifi connectivity is attractive, especially for weather updates, it looks like the Dezl will also display weather data when paired with the Smartlink app. Plus the bluetooth and voice-activated navigation, which the RM doesn't have.
Can anyone share experiences using the Smartlink app? -
and what unit is the GPS?? -
Ok I only have 1 question. I am Brand New to trucking, and I have read all 6 pages and I really did not see anyone talk about The GPS taking the Truck Size into consideration. Please advise, as I was about buy the 7 inch TND 730. I have 2 TOMTOM car gunits and I love these they work good as my Google maps. ( no joke ).
Thank you

The TomTom can get u into trouble. Any of the 5 I checked truck models will work. The RM 510, cobra 5 inch will work well too

Truck gps comes with parameters you'll have to set. In order to not be routed on roads u don't belong on.
