I agree. The laws are basically the same. It's the people part that is different.

knife and flashlight in the pocket always, the judge strapped to the steering column, hammer and fixed blade in the door pocket and 9mm on the seat next to me. I think everyone should always carry a pocket knife and flashlight on their person at all times.

I don't carry because I'm worried about being attacked or anything. I drive rural roads in Iowa. My biggest fear would be a wild animal. I carry because its my gosh darn right. I agree with what others have said about situational awareness being number 1. If you find yourself in a unsafe situation do your best to leave. Walk, run or drive. I'd rather run like a scared little boy than have to make that decision to use a weapon and I'm not some tuff guy that thinks just because I'm carrying that doesn't mean I can't be overtaken and beat down or shot with my own gun.
But I also carry so if some crazy situation does happen I can't say I'm not prepared.

 

--- as to the subject of female personal protection! I know several women that have advanced degrees in what is referred to colloquially as martial arts. In a one of one close up and personal situation this can quickly disable an attacker! The below video may be fake, I don't know, however, if it is real you see just how quickly the man who was MUCH larger was disabled. I will also link to it because sometimes my larger gifs don't play correctly in these forums for some reason.

I witnessed a black female disable a guy doing that very move in the parking lot of a large office building that had a lot of law offices in it. I was only sitting in my POV waiting on a friend that was doing legal business. I know nothing about the situation and how it all ended. I just know after that kick to the head the guy dropped and was taken via ambulance to the ER. I don't know about cheesy movies. I have witnessed it.

 

I should add I can't be a good proponent of martial arts, because I just don't know the terms. I do know most of the women I spoke of have advanced degrees in Jujut su. Personally, I would not want to tangle with any of them.
