What's the big deal with writing "unemployed" on the application?

Trying to figure out how I can prove being unemployed for the first half of this year. I was fired and filed for unemployment but was denied. Cashed in some of my pension and lived off savings after trying to find a decent job proved to be difficult.

Someone was telling me the UI denial might be proof if I held onto the papers. Others suggested getting a non-relative to confirm but not sure what the procedure would be for this.

I don't plan on attending school unti Feb or March so I got time to be ahead of whatever the company expects.

Write up a simple affadavit stating your situation as to their knowledge of your status for them, and get it notarized if you want something more solid.

Companies that have asked me for a reference to verify unemployment usually state that it must be a non-relative though. I just use my 2 buddies that I drove with for a while.

when they say it's "required by law," that's a load of bullhocky. I've applied to (and been hired by) several trucking companies who didn't require 10 years of job history. (please don't respond that there IS a law unless you're going to provide a source for it.) and it does seem rather pointless to have to prove that you were NOT working during a certain period. proof of where you HAVE worked, certainly, proof of where you HAVEN'T worked - ummmmmmmmm, ok? what? another made up law that some other companies have is that you have to fill out a paper application (just applying online isn't sufficient.) again, if this law exists, please cite a source. I've gotten a job hauling fuel - online app. they didn't even have a paper application option.

why are trucking companies such habitual liars, and yet expect US to be 100% truthful 100% of the time? honestly, whenever a trucking company actually tells me the truth about something, I'm shocked!
