I was just reading a recent article in the Midland,TX area about the present boom. It said "experts" say as long as oil stays above $80 a barrel, the oilfield work will continue.
Whats the deal? Are the oilfields hiring newbies or not?

KiloByte, can you say which hiring company you were talking about? Would be a good thing to know before using them for all out there still looking for work.

I've also heard that Basic will hire newbies, but I haven't confirmed this personally.
Everyone's experience is different, but I can tell you it took me three weeks of applying and waiting, applying and waiting, and then finally I got the job I wanted. I don't have any previous driving or heavy equipment experience, but I have a spotless MVR, and a nearly spotless criminal record (one misdemeanor from spring break 21 years ago). I also have a solid work history with no gaps (I might have been making peanuts, but I was consistently working).jvar4001 Thanks this. -
