I think you'd have to have your own trucks and trailers to make 250k in 2 months.. And I'm talking 10+. And trucking is dangerous in the lower 48 just not as risky.

like i said, i just looked it up...i have no personal knowledge. i also assumed it was gross pay for an o/o...thus to get the real number youd have to subtract all of the expenses. perhaps im reading it wrong, too?

I could see that income if your "on" the show. But thats it. Otherwise it would be only old timers with 50+ years up there on those roads :D

Carlile requires 2 years experience to apply. From the CL postings, it seems not all drivers are making good money:

An O/O I know has done it for a few years. I can't remember the exact amount per month maybe $8,000? He said its enough to let him park his truck and trailer for the winter but he still has to work the rest of the year. He also said the biggest danger is falling asleep because its so boring due to the low speed and monotonous nature of the job.

special k, you're talking about the ice road from Yellowknife to the diamond mines, they are talking about the haul road from Fairbanks to Purdhoe Bay.

Most of them probably do it because there isn't any work up there. Seems like most of the regulars live around there and I can't imagine there are trucking jobs growing on trees in Alaska. I could be wrong, though.

They have to follow the same HOS as everybody else right? They make it seem sometimes that they just keep going and going and never stop.
