Not even sure how many school zones I went through yesterday, but I did drive right through Kean University.

Beer load, I guess the distributed is set up close to their main customer base LOL

Guys I appreciate the sentiment but these bills ain't gonna pay themselves. Very few jobs out there with the pay scale that trucking offers (eventually) that I can get into with no diploma or some sort of "in". Being at home and seeing our standard of living drop continually isn't exactly making me feel better as a man either. I wanna provide for my family. Been married for almost 15 years so my marriage and family situation is solid. We were just late starters as far as kiddos. I;m gonna miss them the most.

Hopefully I can do couple of years of OTR and either fall in love with it or go local.

I'm not trying to discourage you in any way and you may love it. But their are company's you can go to that have dedicated lanes and get you home on the weekends you have to agree to work for them for a certain amount of time and they will pay for your school best of luck to you and yours I've been in it for 32 years it's not getting better but it certainly beats a lot of things you could be doing

some family men simply can not do otr. my trainer told me some guys start out doing fine and then after a while just start balling their eyes out. If you get through training at at mega 4-6 weeks you could maybe get a dedicated route- home at least one day a week.

I was in your situation when I first started driving. My kiddos were 2 and 1 when I got my CDL, but I didn't have a wife though. My first company I stayed out 4-5 weeks at a time and take a week or so off in between. Did that for 3 years. Then I got a regional job, out 5-6 days and off 2. Did that for another 3 years. I know I missed a lot when the kids were real young, but they were well provided for. That's my responsibility as their father.

Now I've got a super easy job that gets me home daily (9 hours is a long day for me) and off every weekend, just like a normal person. And I make more than I ever did running OTR. I'm proof that if you work hard and drive safe, that experience will eventually pay off.

Good luck in your new adventure. Trucking is still a great career if you're willing to put in hard work and keep your license clean.
