Long Beach Cali.....To Dallas Texas.. Wanted me to pull 150k crane for 1.15 a mile about 12 years ago....by the time I put fuel in the truck and took 4 days to get it there with the routing I normally got from Cali Az and NM.. I would have made 10 cents a mile.. left Thursday night had signs peeled off the truck 8 am Saturday at the house..... leased to another Heavy Haul company by the following Monday.

Toronto, ON to Dover, DE approx 600 miles...that one is fairly routine.
Oshawa, ON to Dayton, OH....approx 500 miles I think? Did that 3 times in a week x two trucks.
Toronto, ON to Winnepeg, MB. 1450 miles.

These are all double drop loads...not really out of the ordinary,

1,400 was the most I've done so far. Almost did 650 today. Have done several 300-400 in the past couple of months. When you get a firm grasp on your numbers and how to aggressively push up on rates 300-400 is nothing. Yes it costs but the time saved and also the averages do come out better that way. I know it seems contradictory but I look at the all miles average I'm pulling in and it's true.

Kansas city, MO to Phoenix, AZ one time as a company but since I've owned my own truck the biggest dead head I've done is 600+ miles from Denver to Oklahoma City

I've bounced from Denver to Omaha or Kansas City many times. That's about 600 miles. Once I couldn't find anything so ran her on home empty, about 1000 miles.

I hate to dh, I have dh'd 400 miles, and hated it. I try to make money, as opposed to spending it.. I hate to see a $4 rate reduced to $2.20 because of some ridiculous dh.... I hate to see a $3 rate reduced because of dh, I hate to see any rate reduced because of dh, I keep a close tab on all miles and look to keep the overall average as high as possible...

Currently on a 800 + dead head home. Last week did two 750 + D/H. I think the longest was Tucson, Az to Lousiana. Weekly do 400 to 800 +D/H
