Deadhead didn't matter to me because I was paid $.40 a mile . I often did loads out of another terminal 120 miles from my home terminal and was paid $.40 a mile to bobtail there and back .

My longest was roughly 2000 miles from Las Vegas, NV back to my house in NW Ohio. Had a rgn double drop that I hauled a very high paying aviation fuel tanker out and all the loads coming back were full tarp double drop loads for about $0.90 a mile. I sat at my sisters house in Vegas for a week on vaca and playing the blackjack tables at New York, New York Casino. Ended up winning about $3800 and deadheaded back home with a huge smile.

Here lately I have been bouncing out of eastern PA back to OH on a normal basis due to time constraints or rate issues.

My wife was with me, we just "jumped" loads to go where we wanted to. Empty was just time off. We were home all the time. The address just changed. :)

I bounced 400 miles one time to pick up a load. It paid $8245 to the truck for a 1600 mile run. As a company driver I made $2,416.
