At $700 a week for a truck you are paying around $2800 a month for a new truck. That is about average on a new truck these days even buying through a bank w/o a down payment. I do not think leasing through a company we ith their truck is the best choice as far as l/p go but do think that a 3rd party lease is a bit smarter.
People that aren't successful are the ones that dont set realistic net pay goals and don't run it like a business.
What's the point of leasing?

I had a driver from Hirschbach who told me we could have our trucks turned up to 68 MPH. As soon as I heard that I decided I wanted more speed. Now I know the right thing to do would have been to run that rumor by the Hirschbach management but I wanted more speed and did not want to find out that was forbidden. You can have the truck turned up to 68 but you have to check with them first and they take you off their 99 cent per gallon fuel plan. Hirschbach did nothing wrong in firing me. I am a big boy and can live with it. I enjoyed my time with them and have no problem recommending them. But do not go into the lease with the intentions of owning a truck. They are business people and you will not get the best of them in a deal. I posted my final pay to give you an idea of what I earned. Good company, good dispatchers. Always had a preplan so no waiting. I learned a lot and now I have moved on.

You have to wonder what people think monthly payments on a 140,000 commercial vehicle would be.

I lease for the following reasons ~
My truck does 75 MPH , no more of that wadded up with all thee other governed trucks crawling up hills and slowing the world down .
It has a fridge . No more spending half a paycheck surviving on truck stop food .
It has an inverter . can you say folgers coffee in the morning while parked at a rest area ?
Hometime ~ i go when i want to , no begging , hoping , wishing the company wont screw it up .
Zero company b.s. , and i mean ZERO.
The trips - my shortest is 1900 , my longest is 2600 . I roll on 40 , hammer on 10 and tolerate 20 on occasion. 90 percent drop and hook with more than enough time allowed to get the job done .
Am i rich ? No , am i happy ?
YES !Lepton1, scottlav46, Friday and 2 others Thank this.
