What's the stupidest thing you've ever had a dispatcher or office rat tell you?

10-4. Thought if you had the same ones we had it could be simple fixes like sealing the fuses from water and moisture(Our #1 fix for almost all of our units:biggrin_2551:), or checking the actual freon load in the unit(Our #2 fix:biggrin_25516:)

My suggestion with a 13 letter crud spreader is jack up the radiator cap and replace the truck:yes2557:

When we first went to ours they spent so much on motels they decided to reprogram the computers to allow idling instead.

This 90-day policy has just been implemented in the last month or so. The day they replaced my entire HVAC unit, they also reset my idle limit. Thus far, the new unit has needed a new relay (a bit over a week ago), now the main condenser fan is not working. The first fix I had on the old unit was a fuse on the battery, one of four that this thing has. I've heard the moisture issue before too. But ours seem to be the various relays and other such electronic gadgetry associated with the units. Guess I'll find out tomorrow. But in the meantime, if enough drivers and shop people make enough noise, perhaps they'll rescind the idle-time limit. It's really my only big issue with Crete, but it's a big one. The question I ask is "what happens in the winter if we can not idle in the most severe weather?" To me, that is a real problem .

Friday I woke up to NO A/C in my truck. It was a 90 degree day. This week is to be 100 in the forecast all week.

    Dispatcher just called me.

"Since your truck is broke down, would you be willing to hop into a different truck with A/C until Tuesday when you get home? It's just for 2-3 days until the 4th when your part comes in."

Um....No, I like having no AC and running 11 hours a day in 100 degree heat.

Only problem I have is the translation:

2 or three days REALLY means a month from tomorrow....

making a couple loops like we normally do. We do regional stuff hauling Kraft stuff. It's pretty well given what are trips are. Rarely are we out more than 5-6 days.

What did she think you were driving? A horse drawn buggie from the pioneer days?

Night dispatch "Did you weigh this?"

    Me "no"

ND "You need to weigh it"

Me "Why? It only weighs 36,000"

ND "Could be overweight on the trailer"

Me "Its a spread... I can have 40,000 on the trailer and have 30,000 on the drives"

Some night dispatchers just dont think. Had a buddy in a 20 minute discusion on weights due to night dispatch thinking he had a step deck with the axles closed. He apparently never looked at the trailer number.

I had that same conversation with a dispatcher and only had 21,000lbs of plastic containers loaded end to end in a 53' trailer.

I had an office rat ask me once how I could get lost on a dead end road.
I replied that it was easy when the customer doesn't have a address visible to see, and I am not driving down a road that I cannot guarantee I can get back out of until I know that its the right road.
He then replied that he had given me the right road to be on and I just didn't know how to do my job. I left that job very shortly after that.
