Road was closed due to a Accident in a snow storm. A big truck was rolled over across U.S. 20 outside of Bend OR, blocked both lanes of traffic. Dispatch calls me and tells me "we had other trucks go by there , why aren't you rolling?" I let him know that must be the flying truck fleet, because that was the only way they could have went by . After that I told him to call back when he comes up with a better story, I'll be rolling when the road opens.

I was at the York Petro and noticed I had a racing slick that was half steel belts on the trailer. Called the weekend dispatcher to get a new tire, and was he asked "Is it holding air?" "Yes" I replied. "Run it!' he said. Next call was to safety. I hear that dispatcher was last seen on the unemployment line.

Maybe not the stupidest, but it's what I got to hear today.
Just sat though a safety/diversity meeting this morning. Safety manager kept preaching on, over and over, about following the two-second rule. For those of you not aware of this non-existant rule, it states that you need to make sure your truck has a two second following distance behind the vehicle in front of you. Then he added that you have to add a second to that in snowy and icy conditions, for a total of three seconds.
This was right after the talk about preventing accidents by not tailgating.RockinChair and outerspacehillbilly Thank this. -

ok I got : after putting the fire out in the engine compartment of my truck, I called dispatch, she said "ok the truck is on fire now or is the fire department putting it out", No the fire dept. isnt here, I got the fire out, " so the truck is still on fire",, No G@@###### I said I put the F!##ing fire out, "oh ok let me get the mechanic" -
This coming from a dispatcher who had a photograph of my truck that had the dimensions of what was and was not legal on my truck. And it very clearly stated 36" deck height lower deck. 10'6" Max legal load height.rocknroll nik, outerspacehillbilly and formertaxidriver Thank this. -
