What's the stupidest thing you've ever had a dispatcher or office rat tell you?

    Sounds like USA.

    Here's my USA Story:

Pick up a trailer in Ohio, stop for fuel, notice one tire is corded and the other has picked up a nail. The Pilot has a tire shop so I head over there. Corded one gets fixed (begrudgingly) but they won't pay for the repair to the other one because it won't photograph. The tech tried everything to get the hole to show but you just couldn't make out the black from the black. (showed up fine in person, duh) so after waisting 4 hours of refusing to pay for a repair that couldn't be photographed they told the shop to re-mount the tire and "put some air in it" Bless their hearts they even put "remounted tire with hole in it as per customer request" on the bill.

I walked out to the shop and said, "give me that tire removing tool." took off the tire myself, tossed it in the tire pile, rolled out of the garage and put in a Roadside assist request. It seemed my "flat" tire had fallen off, didn't know where it went.:biggrin_25522:

    Had a great one today.
Office Rat gives me a delivery to do says go load this in the van, so I do.
I come back inside, ask where I'm going, O.R. says look at the customer name, that's whose house your going to.
I ask again, whats the address, He says I don't know, but you've been there before a couple weeks ago.:biggrin_25526:

You're a trucker! Just make it happen and push that time dimensional fixer turn-a-rounder button on the dash! Everything will work out just fine!:biggrin_255:

Sometimes you wonder if they really look at what they send you!:biggrin_2555:
And I won't comment on what they tell you to your face or on the phone!:biggrin_2553:

Had a delivery in MA to Home Depot. I get there a little late because of traffic and confusing directions. Go to check in and find out that according to Home Depot, this load isn't supposed to be delivered for another couple days.

Relay the info to dispatch. They wanted to cite me for a late delivery. I tell them how can you cite me for a late delivery if the customer wasn't even expecting it for another couple days?

Fleet manager tells me, "It doesn't matter what the customer wants."

    I was speechless.

A few days later I get a phone call from my DM about this load (I ended up dropping it at a drop yard a few hours away) saying they're not going to cite me a late load after all.

I dispatch a fleet of delivery trucks, and I get this from salesmen all the time. I ask where it's going, and the standard answer is "Uh.... your guys delivered there last year."

"My guys" have made over 2400 deliveries this year alone. If it's not important enough for the saleman to give me a map, it's not important enough for me to send a driver to go on a delivery.

Here is one that happened to me Years ago. Was making my Delivery at Stockton CA for Kraft at their Warehouse. FM Binged me and went your load is needed in Ontario CA ASAP the trailer going there Rolled over this morning. I go will take 10 hours to get there. He goes I need you there in 5. I then said is the Company paying for any Speeding Tickets I get in California that would be on my DL. The Stupid SOB said Yes over the Satalite System. I ran 65 all the way to Ontario.

Best time I ever got a Dispatcher however was at my First Company had a huge flock of Geese about 40 fly thru my Windsheild and it killed maybe 15. Called the Dispatcher at work and went Lyle I just had an accident. He goes any injuries I went Yep deaths I went MULTIPLES. I then heard him hit the floor. Larry the other one grabbed the phone and went OK what the F happened I told him and he goes Can you Drive it I went Yeah to a Glass Shop. Barry the Owner overheard it and I will admit I got my butt chewed out but then he was laughing the entire time with me.

Just got a set of directions to customer that says "turn on local road"

Had my twenty something dispatcher indignately inform me "I am not a dispatcher I am a fleet manager." As my wife says "you can take a pig give it a bath, put a bow on it and call it fluffy, but it's still a pig."

Prepass quit working so I called in so they could route me to a terminal for a new one. Their response, "You'll have to pay cash at the toll booths and go into the scales." Duh, really?
