going up long hills your better off with 22.5's then 24.5s because only thing that 24.5's are better at is your faster by maybe 7-8 mph and we all know trucking is not for racing lol.

you won't get better fuel mileage. Although the motor will be turning less rpm's the rolling mass of a tall tire vs lp is considerably more so its harder to get them rolling. Fuel mileage is generally gained by going to low pro tires. THe tall rubber is generally run by guys who are hauling heavy as they are more reliable in high weight situations.
if it were me I'd go to a low pro 24.5 which is the same height as the tall 22.5 but has the shorter sidewall.
I had to change from 24.5 talls to 24.5 LP because my fifthwheel height was too much for a van. Even with the LP tires I still had to soften my air bags to lower it an inch and that's not generally a good idea, causes all kinds of havoc on the drivetrain.

besides I just hate the way 22" rims look on trucks so i'm biased

The numbers are from mathematical formula not visual read-out. So they are correct. You RPM's will increase by going from tall to LP. Its possible that your brand of tires are different and have a large difference in overall hieght. The numbers I have calculated are for same brand tires. If you tell me what you ran VS what you have now I can give you specific numbers.
