I was born and raised in metro Atlanta, and don't see how it gets such a bad rep with drivers. In my opinion, Atlanta has one of the easier interstate systems to navigate. Traffic can be bad at times, but if you plan properly, you can normally avoid it. I can't remember the last time I was in dead stop traffic on 285.
Miami can be interesting, but not because of the roads or traffic. I've been to the publix DC, and a LEvi place a few times, and each time see some wild stuff happening. It's right on the edge of the 2 neighborhoods that they shoot all of the Miami episodes of the First 48.Last edited: Jan 21, 2013

1631 decatur st brooklyn
This is an address to a place I've picked up at numerous times. There is no easy way to get there, especially with a sleeper and 53 footer. It isn't right off of 495, 278, or any interstate for that matter. It's on the corner of a residential neighborhood. You pull up between 2 light poles, and have only enough room to open 1 trailer door. Certain parts of NYC are commercial areas, which makes it a lot easier on drivers. Brooklyn and Queens are residential neighborhoods, making it a pain in the ###. Like I said though, with some planning, it isn't as bad as most make it out to be. Taking 95 through NYC doesn't count as driving "in" NYC. It's made me a better, and more confident driver.
For anyone having t drive in big cities, Google Street View can be your best friend. You can see the actual street, foot by foot if you want to. You can check all bridges, turns, light polls, whatever. Hell, I go as far as to memorize the cross streets in case of detours which NYC is famous for. I practically know what I'm going to see without ever being on that particular street.
I know of numerous 13 foot plus bridges in NYC that I cannot fit under, and going by what you said, some may try because "they are a foot higher than marked"
They don't mark bridges to accommodate drivers. They mark bridges incorrectly because they are cheap, and lazy. Some are due to repaving, and not being updated. You can go under 4 12'6 bridges, then when you go through the 5th, you'll rip your cab open. The truth is, no one knows why the majority of their bridge markings are wrong. They just are. Don't assume you can fit.Last edited: Jan 21, 2013

I'm not a CDL driver yet, but I would have thought NYC was the worst with Dallas/Ft Worth being a close second. It took me 3 hours to go from eastern Dallas to western Ft Worth in my car.
