Most ins companies won't pay for a dot physical. It's a business expense and should be paid for by your employer.

50 bucks and a few minutes every couple years...why hassle with getting caught.
I remember when you would walk in and the doc asked, "how many fingers am I holding up?"
If you answered correctly he said, "you walked in and can see and hear, you pass..that will be 50 dollars, pay the lady on your way out."
My last one was just slightly harder.. -
in indiana, a copy of your medical is submitted to indot as a condition of having a valed license. they send out a reminder before the physical is due, and a copy of the physical must be submitted by the due date, or, you license is suspended as of that day. it's a major infraction to drive a c.m.v. with a suspended license, and, you get yanked out of the truck if you are caught. good luck getting that off of your record.
and this, falsifying a government document is usually an arrestable offense, and soon, the plan is for d.o.t. to start auditing doctors who are qualified and certified to perfom the physicals and track them back to the drivers.
reason enough?? -
I think you are right on target walstib! A little INTEGRITY goes a long way! And like others have said...do you really need insurance for this? It's like pocket change and no appt even needed at a place like physicians care. Sounds like your HR lady could use a dose of common sense and integrity too! durr -
The employer needs commercial drivers, this includes drivers with all the prerequisites, not just some half-wit hoping the employer will cover the rest of the cost. If YOU want to keep driving a truck, its YOUR responsibility to make sure you are able to do so.mtnMoma Thanks this. -
First I've heard of that, I renewed this summer and didn't hear anything about that.
Did Concentra send it in? I sure didn't. -
When I was an employee my employers paid for my medical card. Now that I am the employer I pay for my employee. I agree though it is a benifit and should not be required of the employer. I guess my wording was not what I was thinking in my original post.aiwiron and Flying Dutchman Thank this.
