couple questions - what are you going to haul? how are you going to get loads? how are you going to get insurance? how much do you actually know about trucking? there's more to it (especially being an O/O) than just getting a CDL and buying a truck. I could buy a late model truck right now and pay cash. not a chance in hell that's going to happen though...

Hell I have a late model 10 car hauler just sitting that I could put back on the road,.......Not a chance in hell of that happening either!!!!!

I love that last part...

I Invested the 20,000 and bought a new Pete and an Eagle Spread aluminum with steel frame. In 4 yrs you can, write it off, sell it and get a new one before the warranty runs out. It does'nt cost anymore in my opinion because you run all the time w/o breakdownsadn you have this huge writeoff from taxes.Wait til you se the tax bill on a used one over a 4 yr period and if you put a new frame under a used one ( Glider kit) you ahve to pay taxes on anew truck anyway.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Awesome. Thank you.

why would you? unless you just liked hauling around an "empty parking lot."walleye Thanks this.

EXACTLY!!,..
I don't plan on giving up what I have now,...... -
problem with an old truck is it will always nickel and ime you, but only it is not nickels and dimes it is thousands of dollars at a time.
I have only had one older truck, the rest have all been new, it gets to a point where you have to decide if it is worth it to fix it or put that same money on something newer. keep in mind a 10 year old freightliner fld is only worth at best $5000, if you spend $10,000-$15000 on an engine rebuild you will never recoup that money if you sell it. My thinking is if I have 15,000 I will put that money down on a new truck rather than waste it on an old one.
Also up here,(not sure how it works in th US) if you show you are making too much money and don't have any write-offs you will have to pay a lot of money in taxes, so you might as well buy a new one.
Another thing is I have had contracts where the shipper requested a truck 5 years old or newer, because their freight is time sensitive, they don't want old pos trucks hauling their stuff and breaking down -
