I was coming through Virginia at 3AM and had to stop. There were about 200 spots total in the lot and, no joke, fully half of them were "reserved". What the hell?!?

Like it's not hard enough being a driver? Are they trying to get us to pay for the privilege of getting a reserved spot?

Basically yes they have been doing the reserved parking for at least 6 months. Its anywhere from 11 to 14 bucks depending on when you call or the location. I have used it and my company reimburses me for it. I run hours that will have me parking around 3 am and parkings a pain to find at that time unless i am out west.

well they own the truck stop. they can do what they want. reserved spots are sometimes for the fuel drivers to have some place to park. what cracks me up. is when they put handi capp parking spots on the truck lot.

They probably were betting July HOS rule change would bring in drivers for that 30 minute break. It's not a bad idea to have a place for those who really need it. TA will strike a balance, they're not going to lose money over it, will see how it goes for them. Nice to see a company trying something different for a change, testing a new angle.

100 reserved is a money grab. I would remember that and not make the mistake of stopping there in the future.

If I owned a big hunk of land at an interchange and trucks wanted to park there I would sure as heck be charging at least $10 a spot. Nothing like pulling in at midnight and knowing you have a parking spot waiting for you. Worth every penny in my opinion.

You reserve it. It's paid for in advance.

They could make the whole lot 'pay to park'.
Then add a additional charge for reserved parking.
That'd help recoup the cost of picking up p bottles, cig butts, oil filters, tires, and other trash truck drivers just dump.

I appreciate the reserve parking every time
    I drive into the evening
knowing the TS will be full
If you don't like the service don't use it
    pretty simple
Truck Stops don't owe any of us anything

if they did they would still fuel our trucks and park them for us
I wish they would do that
then the what about me crowd wouldn't be hogging up the fuel islands
