Last night my dispatcher was trying to get me to run hot back to the terminal. I was eighty miles out and left with a 1/2 hour on driving time. I called in and informed him that I was out of hours. I pulled over on a service road not knowing the area, there was a hotel across the street but luckily no police showed up and tried to force me to leave, but I wasn't about to move the truck, no matter what, just like I wasn't going to violate HOS.

Not in that way but I've told my dispatcher I won't run outlaw for legal consequences so I don't have a problem telling a cop the same. They can have the truck if they want it. We bring the entire country EVERYTHING yet FHWA won't provide us with something as basic as parking.

You seriously want the government to provide us with parking?

Maybe they should provide us with lunch and a bed time snack too.........

Do they provide us with the laws?.. We're being legally set up for arrest and imprisonment for violating HOS. Those laws are deliberately written to entrap us. This is why there's "no parking here" "no parking there" for big trucks, you should at least recognize the obvious collusion between state and corporate. They tell us through law when we can sleep, and when we can work. But oh, no, they aren't responsible for providing parking for us! that property is too valuable for developers and tax revenue!

Let us know how that works for you when the man with the badge tells you to move. Say what you want on here but your truck will be moved one way or another,by you or on a hook.

I have no problem getting fired, the truck isn't moving during OD. And I'll do what I can legally.. The bottom line is you cannot move your truck after 11 or 14 or 60 or 70. Say what you may but I really thought I was getting fired today, hence, the bluff was called out.

I really did come to the conclusion that shutting down and politely saying no is the right way to send the message that enough is enough.

I'll also say that my recent boldness comes through the recognition of what the 'network' is doing to us and how, and why, they see us as complete imbeciles. It's most obvious in LTL refrigerated. The appointment times are impossible to meet and it ain't no accident.

Sorry it took me awhile to post I had to make a new tinfoil hat.

The laws are written to entrap us? Come on now I dislike government about as much as anyone but to say someone sat down and said. Lets write these laws to entrap drivers and put up no parking signs to get them to drive outside the hos rules is a bit of a stretch.

If you don't want government involved don't go asking them for handouts.

The whole reason we get things like these ridiculous hos rules is because our government is to involved in our daily lives. The more we distance ourselves from them the less they can intrude on our liberty's.

You can't really deny the FMCSRs are setup in a way that if they want to find a problem they will find a problem. Now the HOS and parking problems are part of the same issues. I can remember as a kid going out on the road with my dad there where never problems parking at a truck stop at any hour of the day, now how safe it was to park at some of them is another story. Now with the HOS and elogs you have the rules of a truck has to park for X amount of time everyday and truck stops never/couldn't expand or open enough new locations to meet the demand. Also with rest areas closing you are losing truck parking.

You have some states that make truck parking areas where its nothing more than a lot to pull off into with a trash can. Even the PA turnpike method of having cutouts along the road big enough for 3 or 4 trucks every X number of miles is a start. It would be nice to see all states follow suite and open parking areas, if you placed parking areas outside of major cites or even at state lines you would see a easing of the parking problem. Also I give credit to Kentucky they have built large parking areas at the scale houses for drivers to park at so they have a safe place to take a brake. I have used it many times not just in KY but other states that allow it and have never been bothered, never been pulled across the scales when leaving. I know some think if you park there you are asking for an inspection, but that an argument for a different thread. Plus its better than states like NJ that put up signs that if you enter a closed scale as a truck you will get a ticket but cars are ok to park there.
