Would you rather they just made the whole parking lot paid like they do in high demand areas? It's a nice compromise really and if you're endangering yourself and the public over $11, then you should be shut down now.

Parking on the shoulder of some road opens the driver to robbery and/or murder and increases the chance of accidents with four wheelers.

Here, let me take out my magic wand and create $11 each time I need to park.

That is why it is illegal to park on the shoulder in most cases. That is an immediate termination where I am leased to, as it should be.

This is a business, if you don't have the cash to pay for parking or tolls, or fuel, or whatever expense involved in running this business, maybe it's time to get out of business. If you are a company driver, then it's time to find a better company, or change the one you're at. I was leased to a company that only paid NYC tolls. When the Delaware Gap went from 4.25 to 11.75, we complained as we went over this bridge 5-7 times a week. The owner changed the policy and reimbursed us for this bridge. Hiring a driver is far more costly than paying for parking a time or two a week, or even every day if that is the way you have to run. If the owner won't budge, move on.

I agree forty. You make some good points. Also when I was working at roehl we were told we would be fired for parking on an on/off ramp, since if we got hit by a car or truck it would be our fault because we weren't in a designated parking area.

That's not exactly true. If you have an Ultra One Platinum card, you can use your points for parking. Now, before everyone gets up in arms and starts saying "How many drivers do you know that have one??"

I don't know, all I'm saying is that it can be done.

What does it take to get ultra? I can't remember. Is it buying 1,000 gallons a month there or something?

I have never sent in sixty FORMS to claim my expenses. It's more like one schedule that gets attached to one form. And I don't WAIT for anything. My expense deduction is subtracted from the amount I send in to the US Treasury. So the savings is instant.

On i81 I'm quite fond of the wilco Hess truck stops. The showers aren't great but I can usually find a parking spot there at night. Plus they do double points all the time.

Pilot/J will do double points for one month, wilco Hess does double points for 3-4 months in a row. It's awesome lol

In 10 years of runninn the road I have slept or parked in a truckstop and rest areas maybe a handful of times. could care less about a truckstop charging to park. its their business and they can do what they want and I run my business and I wont pay to park. I refuse to patronage TA's and Petro's anyway for other reasons.
