Pre-DEF means anything older than 2008 (at this time, 8 years old or about 1 million miles). DEF has nothing to do with Kenworth, International, etc. all to do with EPA. Many O/O claiming to have no problems with new trucks require rebuild at 400k plus replacement of all DEF, DPF, EGR, Turbo which generally fail twice before rebuild. Older pre-emission trucks (>=2003) live 1.3 million require only oil, filters and injectors. Which do you think is better, $25k every 3 years? or every 10 years?
whats up with the cascadia?

You have any stats to back that up? In our fleet there are 400 2010 to 2013 freight shakers, most with well over 400k. There have only been 2 that have had to have unframed and they were lease trucks that the lessors didn't maintain.
We also still have about 50 KW's that none have experienced the problems you speak of. -
Well found one 2011 white high rise roof cascadia $54k with 530k miles seems like it came off western express fleet does anyone know if they take care of their trucks? The dealer has no record of the maintenance i feel like giving western express a call or email to get some history repair. Built in usa from the door sticker as well heard some where made in Mexico and were no good. Also has a DD15 with that blue cap tank. Still going tomorrow and giving her a good look. I have $25k to put down on her. Lets roll this dice

If dealer doesn't know anything about this truck I would walk.
Typically large fleets go forever between oil changes , and put maintenance off if the truck is about to be sold off.
Hell I'll sell you mine.melsno Thanks this. -
Exactly. If they want to reduce idling they need to force companies to install apu's instead of going after the drivers themselves!KB3MMX Thanks this.

Decided to go with the crete carrier truck cascadia 2011. Less miles and a better deal. With a one year warranty includes just about everything even rear. Thanks for the advice guys

Hey gus,a quick suggestion about mine DD15 2012.A nightmare situation with NOx conversion efficiency, practicly all sensors had been changed and system cleaned all voltages good and def pump changed still it drops to 0.Does anybody have any clues abouth this.

Could be the DOC catalyst in the one-box is worn out. If that's the case it needs a whole new one-box, about $11,000.janboskit Thanks this.

Everything is been removed from the truck cleaned and inspected visually it looks pretty decent. All the parameters are correct temperatures pressures voltages etc everything. Truck initiates regen normally, all the dosing quantities are correct and then just after 5 minutes efficiency goes down and outlet ppm up no idea how
-
Its a shame Detroit cant get their aftertreatment stuff under control. The DD15 itself seems to be a solid motor, but I've never drove a truck with one that didn't have some kind of regen problems, especially 12-13 models.
