OK what is the deal with trainers? What is up with the attituded its my ball and you can play with it? I see thread's and post all the time about rookie drivers being concerned about being able to use equipment in the truck or flat out being told NO you cant use my stuff! Including chargers, inverter, microwave, fridge ect. Just read a thread about packing food for training with the fear of not being able to use the fridge or cooler.

Now I understand not all of these pieces of equipment are large but they are what I would consider neccessary on the road. You as the trainer are getting paid, as far as I know, for the miles we put in on the truck while training while we get a set amount usually a lot less. So you are making money off of us, right/wrong? Now here is the biggie YOU CHOSE for whatever reason to be a trainer CORRECT! So why are some of you being a &^$K to the trainee's?

As long as they respect your equipment whats the big deal?

AXE - the last part of your sentence is understandble and seems like you know your limitations. Therefore you have chosen NOT to be a trainer BUT for those that have made the choice need to sack up a little and play nice....

You have to remember that most come on here to complain rather than tell good stories. You're going to hear about the bad trainers and the crap they do more than not.

My trainer let me use whatever I wanted really. Obviously you still have to respect his privacy in which the main thing to do is to ask before you use something.

I'm extremely finicky about my stuff and my space so I wouldn't have any issues with someone else being very finicky about their space/stuff because I can relate.

I've been pretty much eating like a soldier on rations for the past year dry foods with the occasional piece of fruit so I can eat out of a back pack for months. 60 bucks and I can eat for at least a month.

@Dirtybob - Agreed and I know not every trainer is like this and trys to make the training experience a positive one. thats why I said "some of you". I didnt mean to group them all in the same boat. And I'm sure there is more positive than negative out there...

Would be nice to see some shout outs to the good ones out there and talk about the more positive training experiences.

I share my fridge, microwave, food, inverter, phone charger, CDs, DVDs, whatever my student has need of. I have sheets on the bed for them, drawers and milk crates for them to use, plates, bowls, coffee mug, and utensils.

The way I see it, learning to live on a truck is hard enough and the easier I can make it for them the better.....BTW, all my students are female.

All of my trainers let me use whatever of theirs I needed. My first trainer I did store a few small things in his cooler, because he didn't stop at truck stops except for fuel, so he told me to bring stuff for sandwiches and things to put in his microwave. All of my other trainers the only thing I used was one of the plugins so I could use my car charger to charge my phone. In a situation like with my first trainer they should at least let you use the microwave and a small space in their cooler, as long as you don't get carried away, but I think really any other time the only thing you should absolutely have to use is a place to charge your phone.

The only complaint I have is one of my trainers wouldn't close the curtains on the sleeper when it came time to shut down and it made me uncomfortable with people walking past the truck being able to look in. But it was his truck so I just rolled with it.

Also, I never used any of their space to store my stuff like I've read others have done. If I couldn't fit it on the top bunk with me I didn't bring it.

Ultraclassic you have also to remember space is rather limited in a tractor. True some trainers are jerks, but a trainee can request a new trainer if things are really bad. Also take into consideration that a previous trainee may have screwed something prior to the current trainee and the trainer may have decided screw it nobody uses their stuff.

When a Trainee gets on my truck One of the first things I show them is the food cabinet and tell them if they find anything moving kill it and cook it.....food is open to anyone on my truck...next i show them where i keep the stuff to cook with(oven, coffee pot, water heater) and explain...use it all you want but clean it and put it back..i also explain that while on my truck i will buy all the food(of course i cook everything on the truck)...next i tell them that feel free to ask any question....sometimes even the stupidest question ends up being a good one...next we talk about driving...i do explain that i do ask for some certain pre cautions and stuff( our job is to show them the right way right?)...next...I try my best to make their experience a good one but at the same time learn how to live on the road and not spend a fortune....i do have to say that i learned from one of the best when i was trained and he is on here too.
