As a driver, probably not. Truck might gross more which I guess could translate to more pay if you were percentage instead of by the mile.

I pulled jet fuel for awhile and that paid by the gallon, at least for the company I was running for. So it behooved you to shove a such on as possible without being over gross. We had several different trailers and some had a slightly larger capacity and I saw two guys about come to blows over who was going to get the one with 750 gallons more capacity.

    ;)
That’s a good point. I pulled a quad axle flatbed with an actual forklift in a well just behind the drop off the fifth wheel with a three axle tractor delivering water softener salt all over Michigan to stores and gas stations and was paid per stop/pallet. I was plated for 130,000 and there were days I’d throw a few “extra” skids on to make a bit more cash! Meant double stacking a few but I usually started around 0300 and made sure those double stacked skids were off before daybreak or before I crossed a known hidey hole for the creeper cops. Scales, you ask? Pffft! Never saw one for the two years I did that gig, just call me Jesse (James);)

To add, I've noticed in the west there are more varieties of double-trailer combos....like Double bulk tanks, double flatbeds........Rocky mount doubles, so not only multiple axles, but different trailers themselves are pulled in weird setups.....

The ones I think are really weird are the buckets or bottom dumps that have a straight truck tugging a trailer on what looks to be a 15-20’ toungue.

We run pups like that out here. Quite common. That looks like a pivoting drawbar though. Drawbars on ours are ridged and actually part of the trailer frame I believe.
