whats with arizona

    What is with every company having a hiring freeze in arizona... I got my cdl thinking and under the empression that I.could get a company to train and be all sunshine and happy ending.... not so much I went to swtdt to get it and they were really good there all laid back and made it really relaxed to get it. The whole time I'm being told ya just hang in there and you will get picked up bla bla bla well a month passed and noone is hiring in az what's whrong with this hell whole ...

    No Freight. Lots of experienced drivers are out of jobs. Good luck on your search. Local try Heritage Trucking (dirt hauler). OTR go for Gordon Trucking, you will spend most of your time running up and down the west coast, but they do training.

    It is not just AZ that is not hireing, Being fresh from school I am suprised you did not get hired right away, CR England or Swift should have picked you up, being from the west coast, if they put you on a waiting list, it should not be a long wait with the number of drivers they go through

    Yeah I tried swift, prime, cr england, may usx heartland, central so far may is the only one that I might be able to go with I'm just waiting on an orentation date

    Yeaah a really good buddy of mine drives busses for mps (mesa public school) and I don't really drive busses but its money ya know lol I might just do it till I can land squire or another good paying company I wish I didn't have a susp on my record I would be w/ werner now. or at least doing a towing job

    Since Werner didnt hire you because of the suspension dont you think that might be a red flag with the other companies. The school is going to tell you it wont be a problem because they want your money. Theres tons of drivers coming out of school with nothing on their record and they are being looked at first since there is a ton of drivers availabe and not enough jobs for all of them.

    Hate to be harsh but thats how it is out there now.

    Arizona is about three cities with nothing much going on. We have trouble getting freight out of there in good times. Why do you have to hire on with an Arizona company? You'll be driving all over the country...hire on with anybody you can. If you're OTR, you won't be home much anyway. Besides that, freight is very slow right now and I appreciate the media trying to encourage everyone but it seems obvious to most that the economy's in the crapper and you'll have to make due to get through it.
