I made the delivery today by 15 mins! Immediately got a w/a to go to Ameristeel in Charlotte and get a load delivering at 11 am Friday in Muskogee Ok! WTF! I had to make a phone call on that one! I am swapping with a driver in the am up in TN. This load will get him home and i think he has been waiting on something. My FM said he had no idea why they put that load on me! I would have taken it, but called him just to verify that I was supposed to get it.

Long day. Unloaded in Columbus, OH Loaded in Grove City, OH and 598.7 miles later we are parked in the Home Depot parking lot across from consignee in Atlanta, GA. Lucky so late and hardly any cars in the small parking lot. Thanks Jim for the heads up.

The FM tells me "they are working on it" and then she goes home. As you know FMs only work part time. They are "at work" for 8 hours and then take a 16 hour break.

    jxu417 Thanks this.

What an interesting day. Left Gerdau in Charlotte last night with just over an hour to drive headed to Morristown TN to meet the driver I was swapping with. The load delivered Fri in OK. I started to stay at the house last night, but instead drove on past and stopped at a truckstop. I didn't want to chance over sleeping and being late getting to the truck and then making it harder on the other driver. I got up this am and headed out. Made it thru the gorge on I40 and called the driver to let him know I was about 30 mins away. He said, " Didn't you get the message to take that load back to Charlotte? It was cancelled and I have to go there to pick up something else"! Uh, no, I never got that message! I called my FM and got the scoop on that! So, long story short, I got turned around, came back to the mill and had them unload it. They were expecting me. Now I am sitting here waiting on a w/a!!!
