ok so I was wondering what everyone had for a cellphone provider. Ill probably be hitting the road soon and my girlfriend is talking about switching carriers. The only thing is I'd hate to switch to verizon and end up having bad service through out the country. Now I know you cant get service everywhere but what Im looking for in this is to see what people have and if they are happy with their provider. I now have Tmobile and the way things are looking I could have Verizon as soon as tomorrow. Thanks in advance

I had verizon for many years.

In 2006 I made the switch to ATT because there was no coverage for a handheld phone along the road my wife drove everyday. Most of the people I knew had ATT.

Within months, I knew I had made a bad choice for me, but it helped my wife.

Finally late last year, they had Verizon along the route she drives each day.

    March, I returned to Verizon.

There were many times I had no phone service on ATT. Broke down on the side of the road twice. Once for 2.5 hours, second time for 5 hours. No ATT, but there was Verizon.

Here are my findings based on my travels from upstate NY to the deep south every week...

Currently have AT&T they are about the best for what I do anyway.....Had Sprint which was really bad, dropped calls and missed calls were the norm...The boss man provides a Nextel its not much better than Sprint IMO..

I guess it all kinda depends on where you run as to what will work best...Hope that helps a little..

From the east coast to Denver, at&t was the best. T Mobile was good as long as I was on the interstate, but most of the time if I got 5 miles away from a town or an interstate, my phone was useless. West of Denver, I don't have a clue.

Having traveled all over the nation professionaly (lived in Denver CO, Joplin MO, and MI, and now NH)....I would state that Verizon has what I consider the BEST voice network (they use a technology called CDMA)....once you throw data, etc in in, it gets more complex.
When traveling with a friend, I often found that their phones would say no-signal/no service (usually t-mobile ot AT&T, both utilizing GSM technology). The others have come a long way in the past couple years...so the gap is narrower than ever...but still, if you can afford it, Verizon is the way to go IMO.
Sprint is the other CDMA carrier in the US...there are a few smaller ones...but if you end up roaming with a CDMA phone...you will be on Verizon...so I knew some folks that used Sprint (lower $$ plans) and then could roam for free....it works fine...UNTIL Sprints tells you they are canceling you for too much roaming!

I say go with Verizon I haven't had any trouble and they all so have the friends and family circle so that you can put numbers and you free calling circle and they don't have to be cell phone numbers that are non verizon land line numbers too
