It sucks! Well, some like it, but I hate it.
Coast to coast & border to border for me.
Trucking is a great career or I wouldn't have chosen it.
My daughter is a nurse & likes it, but it's not for me at all. Give me the open road and crossing state lines and sleeping in a different state or city every day.

Should i feel bad about not going to college after HS? i just want a job that pays well, one that i enjoy, and start living my life instead of spending more of my life in school and ending up in debt. I hear college isn't for everyone. It certainly doesn't seem to be for me.

I'm 21, I got my CD at 19. I worked for a small company for a year. Now I'm doing line haul for FedEx, about the same as ups would be. Ups you can make up to about $80-85k FedEx about $50-55k. Ups is very strict where FedEx doesn't really care what you do.

Line haul is almost no thinking, easy highway driving mostly, and no backing into docks. The waiting you do is waiting for the other driver to meet you at usually a truck stop.

When you first start for either company you will be put on the extra board though.

My God, man! You're 16 years old! SIXTEEN!

Quit flip flopping on what you want to do for the rest of your life. Hopefully, you'll have a lifetime to do just that.

Go chase girls, hang with your friends and have some fun while you still have nothing to lose. Seriously.

Home schooled. Do my work online. No friends. Can't go out and make some because our neighborhood is crap. Used to date girls online but got tired of that. It isn't a surprise that i just want to get out and start living my life. Since i have nothing else to do, i resort to thinking of all the careers i want to do. I see no problem with doing that either, especially in my position. I don't have my license yet and my parents drive me every where. I barely leave my house during the week because my dad is always working and my mom has to stay home and take care of the baby. I do however leave the house maybe once on the weekend to go somewhere such as the grocery store or a restraunt. But that's about it. My life sucks at the moment so all i can do is remain positive and look forward to the future in which i will have freedom to finally live the life i'm supposed to live. Date girls, go out and make friends, party. My HS experience has sucked. I planned on going to college and having fun there since i couldn't do it in HS, but now i don't think i even want to go to college. Trucking wouldn't be a problem for me since i'm used to being alone for long periods of time. When i'm feeling down, i can't even express myself to anyone because my parents aren't the nicest.

So you want to be an OTR trucker?
    And you want good money?
And you want time with your family or friends or loved ones?

    Good luck with all that.
OTR is a pretty solitary lifestyle, and it doesn't pay all that well.

It works for me because I am a hermit at heart. Also, I can visit family in different parts of the country every couple months for a visit.
But if you are going in to it for the money - don't.
If you want to live a life other than moving stuff around the country - don't.
If you want a real social life and hope to find someone decent to love and marry, and perhaps to have children with - don't.

Well here is the thing Luccid, every statistic shows that on average college grads do better in just about every economic area. Economy down? College grads have lower unemployment rates. Lifetime earning? College grads have much higher averages.

These are just averages. You have to decide for yourself. Personally I hope and pray all three of mine go to college.

Would UPS be the better career option since I'll get to go home every day and the pay is good, plus the benefits?

You really need to get a job, a drivers license and a car, and move out to be on your own.

But trucking is NOT what you need. That would only isolate you even more from life.
