I just wanted to get some of you guys input on PAM. I am looking to start my CDL class July 9 in Ft Worth IN. My application has not been processed yet, but I am worried about my past bitting me in the rear. I have had 5 jobs since 2009 and my driving record is so so I am not sure what's on there but if they go back 10 years I'm screwed but if the go back 3 to 5 years it's so so. I know in the last 2 years it's been good and I don't have any accidents on my record and I have never been suspended for points and no DUI's.

So, my question to you guys is do u know how strict PAM is about my past?

Do you guys even know if PAM is a good starting school?

I read that after school PAM is only paying 17 1/2 CPM is that true?

I was also told as a driver I will only be able to do 3500 miles a week as a solo driver?

And what's the big fuss about Team Driving I know it's different strokes for different folks but how bad can team driving be I mean you both get paid for the full miles. I know I don't mind having somebody to team with for few months my first time out.

Ohh and I forgot to mention I just got off probation for obstructing justice and I just found out Friday that I have a current warrant out for my arrests but it's over some BS and I do plan to get it taken care of ASAP but I'm pretty sure they are going to throw me on unsupervised probation AGAIN....

Any info about PAM and my situation I would very much appreciate it...

    Thanks

    Frustrated Noobie

PAM pays 0.22 a mile from what info I see and 3500 miles in a week as a solo would be AN AMAZING WEEK for me!!!! The 0.17 is probably for teams I assume

I work for Pams Parent Company, my advice....RUN! PAM is just a POS rookie training company, they will take every opertunity to take advantage of you. Unless they are your ONLY option i would recomend you look elswhere. Try WEL Companies they are up your way too.

Thanks for that info Timd1978 I knew starting out was going to be tough but 17 1/2 CPM and only allowed 3k miles a week is pretty low that's like $500 a week.

It's not about the company "allowing" you to go 3,000/week. You have to figure in HOS (time you are allowed to drive) not to mention delays at shippers/receivers, mechanical breakdowns, weather, traffic delays,etc.......

In reality many many drivers would kill to get 3000/wk all the time.

There is an entire sub-forum here about PAM: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/pam/

American Trucker is correct, don't get locked into a company training program.

The .175 cpm is team, which they will make you do for 6 months if they have another newbie who lives close to you.
However, IMO, Pam will probably take a pass on you with your backround. And, they may not tell you until you are at school. I'm not trying to alarm you, but I've seen it happen.
You may have to get your legal issues cleared up before a company will hire you.

Thats would be f*#ked up I would rather have them say no from jump street then to have me get to school then say no. Now if that did happen do u know if I would have to pay the money for the classes back? It's not a breach on my end so I don't think I should.

I would'nt work for any company that only pays 17 cents. I made more than that in 1967 hauling bulls as a newbie.
