I just went to my local truck parts store and bought 4 of the regular self-centering wheel nuts. When I put a wheel on I will start with those 4 and gradually snug them up to center the wheel, then install the rest of the customers regular nuts, then take my centering nuts off and install the rest of the customers regular nuts. Done, wheel is centered. This only works with the steer wheels though.

Do those self-centering nuts work on duals(rear) wheels?

They make 3" ones for the steers and 4" for the drives, if you buy the 4" ones you can use them in both places.

The self centering nuts would only center the outer wheel, not the inner one. The inner shoulder of those nuts have a small cone that sits inside the hole of wheel about 3/16 of an inch or so. To truly center duals you would need those sleeve tools. I should get some, but I run into off centered drive wheels only once in a blue moon. 95% of the time it is the steers I have to deal with. The self centered wheel nuts were only about $6.50 each, I bought four of them, which is only a fraction of the tool set cost. Good place to start.

The local truck parts store has self centering nuts long enough to do both the inner and out wheels on a dual wheel set up so they are available.

I tried to find some pics and info of them on the net but had no success but I know for a fact the local parts store (wheelco) has them in different lengths for trucks with steel wheels on the inside & aluminum on the outside & for trucks with aluminum wheels inside and out. I have to go to the parts store tomorrow so I will get the manufacturer & part #'s for them.
