Not all drivers are against qualcomm... I have qualcomm now haaving run loose leaf paper logss with my previous company.. and personally.. I like qualcom... takes less time than paper logs and I actually get better use of mt time and more out of my HOS...
I do not think it is too early for you and your wife to be calling and checking out companies. ? You will want to gather as much info as you can so you can make an informed decision... you can also check out the websites of companies... you may find it would be better for one to go to school, train and get some experience, then the other go to school and train, then become a team..
No company pay great training wages, so it may be hard for both of you to be earning training wage at the same time..
Dont be in a big rush.. a good decision tomorrow is better than one made toaday with not enough information...
So, gather info, talk it over with eachother.. you will know when a decision feels right,,
Good luck to you both..
When considering first company...what is important?

We thought about one of us going first and then the other, however, we are at a point where we can live comfortably off training wages for a while. My Army retirement will pay most of bills. But we would rather prolong being seperated as much as possible since that was the deal with my Army career.

Add everything to your list that you can think of, the most important at the top, the trivial towards the bottom. you never know what could be a tie breaker.negativecold13 Thanks this. -
So far our graph/spreadsheet has the following:
Pay, miles, equipment, military program, APU, medical, remarks(likes/dislikes). Governed speed of truck will be in there somewhere. I understand the insurance and some reasoning behind the governed truck speed, but I think 63mph is just redicilous(bite my tongue, I may end up with one of those).. -
It's possible, a lot of companies are going that way. It never really bothered my husband that the truck's went 63 or 65, what drove him batty was that they also lost the ability to pull, he hated slowing to a mere crawl on the "hill's" in Tennessee. Getting dirty looks ( and comment's over the C.B.) really ticked him off. Having a loaded Rock bucket pass him like we were standing still would have him cursing for hours.
I DO think the governed speed should at least be the average interstate speed limit. ( that's an argument for another thread) -
If you are teaming the truck can run 24/7 for six days straight so the need to cheat on your logs is minimized anyways.

Another option you might decide is right for you instead of a normal team where the truck is always running is what I've heard called super solo by one company who offered it to couples. Both of you share driving, but the truck is dispatched on loads with enough time to shut down for 8 or ten hours. You won't make as much, but you can sleep at the same time in a parked truck. If you find running 24/7 isn't for you, a company with this available as a backup plan would be a plus.

Thanks for the info, but our intent is miles...and we sleep better seperate, she is better driving at night and my peak time starts around 3 am. thanks...
