Got a long trip from NY to TX coming up in a few days. My ram 3500 chassis only. Non commercial still, do I need to pull into open weigh stations?
From TX I am connecting to an empty trailer (27k lb gvwr) and heading to Tallahassee still non commercial. Do I need to stop at weigh stations then?

From Tallahassee, where I will be registering my truck for commercial use and heading to Miami, I assume then I would definitely have to pull in to weigh stations.

Aiming you haven't put Decals on the truck yet you won't need to till you get to tallahassee and trustee it as a commercial vehicle. However at that point it needs decals and stop ay all Perth weigh stations and port of entry. Id get them done now at gone and just cover them till you get to Florida.

Fyi, in case you don't know florida has ag station check points. You will have stop at those also.

So even with towing a trailer as long as not registered as a commercial vehicle yet I can just pass them?
Going to put my decals on the rear side windows, dunno how to cover that up.

If you are making money from someone doing this run you are acting as commercial vehicle.

Now if the state or DMV found out you were running commercial before you had all the required stuff on the truck...

    Pay attention to the signs.

Nebraska signs say vehicles over 8,000 lbs. And I know there's another state along the 80 that says something. I think 10 or 12,000 lbs.

Don't know how hard they enforce it though. My dad rolled straight thru with a uhaul box truck.

Make sure when crossing into Florida that you stop at the ag check station still that's for all people coming and going and have proof of ownership or rental incase they ask and they might
