I stopped being a “new driver”, when I was certified as a Supertrucker.
    How do you get “Certified”?
Swift has to back into you at a truck stop. :biggrin_25523:

I met a guy at a motorcycle shop. I invited him to lunch. Drove him to a restaurant. Kept in contact. This guy worked in a factory. I introduced him to some bikers I knew when I saw him at the Harley dealer. The president of this MC was also a small fleet owner. We all went for a ride and ended up at the local Hooters. They got to talking and upon hearing that the new guy had signed up for school, and was going to start flatbedding, the prez offered him a job, if he can get 1 year clean driving, a $3000/week gig with his company. Home on weekends. Currently, new blood has 5 months in.

^^^^^THAT, my compadres, is how it's done. How I got my asphalt gig, as well.. (similar, anyway.) Got hand picked to come off OTR for some REAL fun. Had bossman not sold his small fleet due to divorce, I'd still be there. Cuppa Joe at a PFJ and some kind #### chat, was all. It's done me well ever since, even into my 'immediate' hire into my local/regional/sweet current job.

This networking concept works in most every kind of way. I am in hopes of selling a parcel of zoned commercial property I am sitting on near Atlanta very soon. I only own this property because of an acquaintance I met through networking who told me close to 15 years ago about a planned development. Even with things like property taxes and even after capital gains taxes are paid, I will do very well. It does work!!! I am 100% disabled now. Because of my problems with seizures I can't work, even as a Wallyworld greeter! I don't know what I would do today if I had not networked over the years and put money up. You youngsters, should remember you only have a limited amount of earning years! use them well!

When do you become a old hand at driving?
When do you stop growing old?

You aren’t a real trucker if you learn the value of networking and social interaction lol
