You better run your numbers again . That about what I came up with on my numbers of course I was more then generous on the maintaince / repair and included a fair bit to set aside to grow or update equipment . Sure you can run the number more lean and mean but that not going to get you anywhere if you can update or add equipment as needed
When it's $1.48/mile versus .48/mile why not aspire to be an o/o?

For 23 years I've run my numbers every quarter when i do the quarterly tax filings.
-
Because $1.48 after expenses means no profit margin
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Find me something locked in at $2.78 per mile at a minimum and I might think about it.

There won't be anything left...DSK333 Thanks this.

I can’t discuss that, I’ll end up upsetting that whiny old lady and her coveted sand pot

Smh. Why not?

My flat has been averaging $2.19 on all miles this year and my van, $2.28. I can't understand why someone would pull the dirt cheap crap loads at $1.48.

Cause by way of employment/contract the boss is getting the $2+ per mile loads and still just paying the driver/Leased on truck the per mile rate from a couple of years ago. Why should the boss update the contract if it works for him.
Driver needs to rework the contract, most likely with another carrier.
