    If you are leasing on with the company under their authority running their plates and dot number does that mean your company name is not supposed to be on the truck anywhere ?

    The company you are leasing to must have their name and DOT number on the truck. Many O/Os also have their company name too. Unless the terms of you lease agreement prohibit you from having your name on it.

    You can have your name on there but leased to: there company must also be on there and normally the most prominent in size.

    Decal placement and what they read:

    Owned by:
    “Your Company”
    (Logo, Etc)

    (Decals usually should be towards the back of cab/sleeper area but not a must)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Leased to/ (or operated by)
    “Their Company”
    {usually decals for their company should be placed on the door)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    USDOT XXXXXXX
    MC XXXXXX
    (Somewhere on the truck, on the door, on your sleeper bunk doors etc)
    Truck number- usually should be towards the front of the truck somewhere, but not a must

    That post below mine is great information by Hope over Mope.

    I’ll just add that make the dot number, city/state, and truck number atleast 1 3/4 inch tall. That’s what mine are but I did have to fight a ticket one time because blind dot said he couldn’t read it. So, you could go to 2 inches. I did best the ticket but was a hassle.

    Good luck!

    No MC number required on decals. As a matter of fact they discourage that. Name of company, DOT number, truck number, IFTA if interstate. I believe in contrasting colors and must be able to read from 50 feet. Some states, if truck is registered in those states, vin number, regestered weight, KY numbers. Also if owned by a company/corporation their name on decals. Meaning if O/O is incorporated they must have name on truck also.

    You will see that on must FedEx trucks. I had a driver that got written up for not having the name of HIS company on side of truck.

    Someone posted a state by state list of what is required,but I can’t remember who it was or what thread.
    Some states have extra requirements over what is federally required.
