So you have absolutely nothing that can at least indicate that you were a day trader for however long? Nothing at all?

I had a letter from my accountant verifying my being self employed

Some companies just ask for your tax returns as proof of self employment. Keep in mind they don't care what you did for the last three years. They are just required by law to verify it.
The first company I worked for had me sign a paper saying I was unemployed for 6 months. The realjty is I was running a couple ebay stores. When I applied to another company they wanted tax records, which I didn't have. Now I just put down unemployed. No tax records means no employment, right? So if you are just sitting around on the computer trading stocks, you are unemployed. -

Chinatown Thanks this. -
Don't worry about burning your name, there's far too many companies for that to ever happen.Just keep on applying, there's a company out there tht'll give you a chance. But don't lie or stretch the truth, they always find out.It may not be right away but they will find out.It wouldn't be too good if your first company here in the states fired you because you failed to put everything on your application.

Go to the private or community college CDL school and get all the endorsements while you're there. You already have a passport which is good for runs to Canada. Get TWIC which makes you more marketable for companies that must enter seaports, chemical plants and some military bases.
Make sure the school you attend is at minimum 160 hr. course. Some of the better paying companies will require that. -
Fine line between truth and non-truth. It's called your lips. Even in an absolute truth structure of phrase or word through your lips will catch even the best....that's why we have lawyers. "I" didn't say it, your lawyer said it.

"The program consists of 150 hours of instruction (44 one-student-per-truck driving hours) conducted over 4-5 weeks."Chinatown Thanks this. -

The best money for new CDL graduates is flatbed or tanker. In a few months you may find a better paying job with LTL such as Old Dominion. Some companies the pay isn't fantastic, but you get excellent coast to coast driving experience which leads to better jobs in the future.
Here's a few to research & if you like any of them, put them on your list:
NFI Industries
Melton Truck Lines
Trimac
Navajo
Schneider Bulk
Superior Carriers
Watkins-Shepard
