another thing i noticed when i was on the side working was people seem to aim for the flashing lights of a towtruck subconciously. there hands tend to go the direction of where they are looking.

Part of the smith system is "Aim high in steering", which means to direct the bulk of your attention to the road 10-15 seconds in front of you. The reason behind this is that you will automatically have your vehicle centered in the lane of travel, without see-sawing the wheel. If you focus your attention elsewhere, the wheel will follow.

True that. Ever ride a bicycle or motorcycle and look to one side or the other? Good way to ride right into a ditch. That might be part of the issue with so many fatalities with roadside workers or motorists on the shoulder.

Yesterday, I was going on a short business trip to Jackson Michigan and on the way there a truck was broken down on the right shoulder. One out of the ten trucks that were in front of me moved over and the one who did was a Normandie Driver.

On the way home, I saw a car broken down on the right shoulder, almost in the lane, there was a truck approaching the car, the guy opens his door, and steps out, the truck moved into the other lane just as that happened, didn't make an attempt to move over before than, the other lane was clear. I am glad the guy didn't get hit, he was stupid for parking almost in the lane but I am starting to wonder what is wrong with these drivers who are too lazy to get into the other lane when a truck or car is obviously broken down.

  6. People being busy talking on cell phones or texting. Seen it hundreds of times. Not to mention people in their rut. Of what lane they drive in. I have tons of video footage. Its amazing some days how some survive the day..

4 wheelers kill wrecker drivers, truckers, & small animals. everyday. Texting has gotten bad. They can't hurt Us very often. I bought Train Horns. Mounted them on the frame. Texters get a surprise. What they going to do run over me?
Cops, That 4 wheeler was texting, I just woke em' up :biggrin_25514: I have been stopped once.

Did some paving on I 24 at night. Do you know that we had TWO of the big 10million candlepower signs with the directional arrows get destroyed by cars? Pull them out of the cars and they swear that they didn't see the sign.

In Arizona and many other states now, Has a "Move to the other lane to give room law" But how many really even know about it? I think people are just lazy, It doesn't matter to them so they don't care to move over!. Sad but true.

Not trying to to be a cop.. but one time when I moved over to the left lane that super trucker was in,he felt like I cut him off and he went to the right lane so we were side by side as we both passed the truck on shoulder. What if that truck pulled into traffic at the moment i moved over.then super trucker would have no where to go except into me..Yea pissed me off enough to NEVER have that happen again.....
