It's always about what you can safely do. I like to look in those shiny things hanging on the side of the truck before I even get close to the edge of my own lane. There's a lot of clowns out there anymore.

Slower traffic keep right. You don't have to move over it is courtesy. But it really isn't a big deal. I am rarely in the right lane anyway.

says the poster with 58 posts.........what difference does the post count make?
truckon and Ghost Ryder Thank this. -
And it isn't "slower traffic keep right", it's "keep right except to pass". If a 62mph truck is making a pass then it is no longer the slower vehicle, even if you are going faster. This also means that your butt belongs in the right lane if you aren't passing anyone.Last edited: Aug 7, 2013

I got to thinking about some of the "me first" type of comments so far in this thread. The folks that think they own the left lane no matter what, that think nothing of coming close to a roadside vehicle because they "had it coming".
There used to be a time when if a trucker broke down on the side of the road there was a good chance another trucker or two would stop to lend assistance (albeit that was back in the day before cell phones). There was a time when new truckers were taught courtesies like staying in the right lane until you pass, giving way to let another trucker come over to the passing lane, feeling like you could pass on a two lane highway with another truck coming because you knew that they knew how to do the "Mexican Do Se Doh", or running convoys (remember convoy's?)...
... in fact back at that time if you pulled stunts as being proudly described by some of those that are posting and bragging about their 2-3 years experience you could count on being "tagged" on the CB and expect a "welcoming committee" at your next stop to give you an "education" in proper trucking courtesy. After a few bloody noses and bruised ribs it was remarkable how courteous a driver could become... -
