Sounds like they don't have enough work to go around. Time to start looking elsewhere if you are sitting that much for free. Or at least something paying enough to balance out the wasted time. Is this a regular thing for the other drivers too or are you at the bottom of the totem pole? I sit alot because jobs get cancelled last minute or even mid-trip but I'm paid the same from start to finish so what's the difference?

Find yourself something that pays hourly. It’s nice getting paid from the time you clock in to the time you clock out whether you are driving, sitting, sleeping, browsing Internet forums like this, etc...

You can log it as On-Duty and tell them you are, so they understand it will affect them when they need you to drive. It will be time for a 10 hour break. See what they say when you tell them it On Duty time if they want you to be ready to go anytime they call you.

Rotfl. I remember that ####, its even better when you show up to deliver and they're surprised to see you because that load wasn't even supposed to be there for another day or 2.
Stop being the dispatchers #####. If they have a problem, you need to bring it upto a driver manager, safety or whoever their boss is. You don't work for the dispatcher, you work with them.
On your next load if they make you sit around beforehand, call whoever its bding shipped to and ask them what their scheduled recieving time is. See if it matches up with the dispatchers down to the wire time. -
