Company drivers that do their pre-trip sitting in the seat, everything's fine. O/O's walk around their truck but not the trailer, everything's fine. One time i cut off the dipstick for the reefer, kept moving it around to different trailers. Until i told one to check it in front of me, no one ever said anything. LOL

Ain't that the truth. Drivers are always giving away their time and efforts away for free. I see that same poisonous mentality carry over into business aspects too with many OOs too. I give nothing away for free. What's the old saying? "I'm running a business, not a charity."

Man this has the feel of a 1099 company, but I think the service guy had more leverage here. I've been in situations like this before, but I've never seen them upcharge to this level. 3500 dollars, you would have came out cheaper to tow it to the dealer or somewhere.

Last time I checked. Wanting to be paid for services rendered isn't extortion. SMH

Well they do charge travel time and miles, plus it’s usually minimum hours and the cost of the fuel pump.

my cost for a fuel pump on my Cascadia is 2k before the core. So $1100 to travel and fix it sounds about right.

The 2 hour wait time to get paid that sounds about right as well.

things going bad after that’s an issue. Maybe the line wasn’t installed correctly? Maybe a blockage (not sure if that’s possible) in the line? Anything is possible but if he didn’t work on that line I doubt it’s his fault.

Actually it wouldn't work. First there are set dispute guidelines. So it isn't "siding" with anyone. The guidelines are meant to protect both parties. Merchant and customer. Also it was a face to face transaction. Which, unfortunately, by signing. You are saying services were rendered as expected. So there is no valid "dispute." In this instance.

I actually was a dispute rep for a financial inst in the past.

If i was the mechanic i wouldve just taken the new fuel pump back off after they refused payment and said to call me back when u guys have a way to pay and ill come put it back on for a new price of course, for wasting my time.... Mechanics dont work for free. Drivers need to understand that. Work out a deal with him see if he knows a tow truck in the area or see if he could give u a ride to the hotel or whatever the case so u dont have to sleep in a cold truck. You know people are willing to work with you if you are honest and treat them with respect. But that seems to have escaped the OP and it seens they think they should have work done to their truck for free.
