I spent a long time in the corporate world. Companies don't accept a PO as payment for a product or service unless prior arrangements have been made, usually involving a credit check and often a contract. A random mechanic you call for service on the side of the road isn't going to accept a PO.

Mechanic didn’t want to chase money owed
Roadside repairs are companies responsibility. Not my truck, not my problem. I’m a truck driver, I have no money.
I work for huge company and one tow operator demands payment NOW or no tow.
Company won’t pay for 90 days

Pretty sure somebody will straighten your snowflake @@@ out on here
    Iam sure gonna say this
1.. they mechanic did not commit extortion by wanting to get.paid for his work..
2 I highly don't you would freeze to death in 3 or 4 hrs and I highly doubt the mechanic would have let that happen to you
    3. Maybe you should better prepare yourself for a emergencies like extra blankets and food.. I carry extra blankets and a 12v electric blanket just in case .. I run in a area that much more colder and desolate than your talking about
4.. there was no F....ing extortion involved your just a buttercup plain and simple ..
5..you should find a local job so you feel safe in the area you run in
.you don't have the making of a OTR driver if your gona pee your pants when your not in a high traffic area

Small Company I drove for/at/with In Greensboro, NC, Gave I an American Express as well 2 Separate Other Credit Cards For Fuel/Road Expenses.
WE Never Had Any Problem With Paying Bills.
Whatever Was The Charge To PAY & DEPART, Any Weirdness Was Challenged By The OWNER With The Credit Company/Charges.
I Was Not Involved In The Repairs (Other Than Small Things), Just Experienced The Procedures Of Repairs.
I Was NEVER STUCK On Any Roadside, At That Point Units Would Have Been (and 1 Combo Had Been) TOWED To A Repair Facility.

We NEVER Had Any Credit Card Go Wobbly.

I Also Carried Winter Garb ALL YEAR When I Ran Random National Lower 48 Routing!!

    CHEERS!!

The first question is always, "can you do it and how soon?" followed immediately by "what payment methods do you accept, and will a credit card over the phone be ok." Any negative on the latter requires some follow-up before giving the green light to send the service truck. I've had to scramble to fund a high service bill now and then, but never by surprise.

If the company could not pay the service then the whole thing sounds like an attitude from the driver escaladed the situation.

I wasn't going to remark about that, as there isn't enough information included with this one-sided story. On the other hand, when you've seen this story unfold a few times yourself, it's not hard to guess where the plot twist is.
