Now I don't know if these people only target Stevens Transport drivers, but on the way to Hunts Point Meat Market, in Bronx, NY; There have been 7 different times where some gangsta or crack head has jumped on the side of my truck holding on to the mirror trying to get me to roll my window down...now some wanted to get paid for giving me directions...which I did not need, but I thought they were just trying to get me to take my wallet out so they could steal it and run off....which I have heard of other Stevens drivers falling victim to, also getting beat up. I don't know why they stepped out of the truck to talk to these people, its common sense, somethings wrong with them in the first place. A nightstick is best used in these circumstances, right across their knuckels, so they let go of the mirror.

Kinda new here and I have read that guns are not allowed in commercial vehicles but what about batons or extra long Bowie knives, or mace, etc?
Seems eventually one will run into such a situation as you just described where a little backup to the ole hand-to-hand might disuade a would be attacker more effectively.

I would not advise carrying a gun. I don't know any company that has a policy that you can carry. Most places you deliver to allow no weapons on the grounds. Not to mention what are you going to do throw your gun out the window when you cross a State line?

Pretty sure any company I work for is going to have a no gun policy. I am ok with that really I am.

But, I would like to know that a big ole honking knife, a "tire thumper" or even several feet of chain is not going to get one in trouble with either the troopers or most company policies?

Half the people in prison had a secret. Now instead of a gun stashed in the bunk they have a shank stashed in the bunk!
