The last month I've spent more time sitting around in truck stops than on the road. It's common to have 2 days LO then get a load, them another day or 2 LO.
I just got off the phone with dispatch and was told I am 26th on the list - expect to sit another day and probley get a load tommorrow. And I've been MT for 24 hours already.
Is it just me? Or are things slow for all PAM drivers.

Checking the few boards I am still active with, there ain't much freight out there, period. Sitting is going to be a pretty routine thing out there from what I am looking at. Just thank your lucky stars you are not pulling a flat bed.

Sorry to hear that Ron. I miss mine! Hell, I still have it, sitting rotting in the yard. Been watching traffic out there, I would say 98% of flats I have seen are empty going down the road or in the truck stops. I checked the freight available in Illinois the other day for a buddy of mine. There were roughly 300 loads posted for an entire week in the state, and that includes the Chicagoland area. Never seen it this bad out here. Van loads were not much better.

My nephew's father-in-law pulled a flat and now he's traded it for a van.....

yes i am a pam driver sitting in bowling green ky at international waiting on parts for my prostar, all the loads i have had since xmas have been bad broker loads, pams looking for cheap freight

Wintertime from what I've learned in my 7 months and from my old trainer, are the dog days of freight. You're not the only one doing the sitting. People don't know that there are some drivers that do nothing but automotive runs. When the plants shut down during the winter, those people go out on general frieight, which takes a lot of food out of our mouths. I learned this when I was training and GM/American Axle were on strike.

Hate to say it but truckload carriers might be starting to decline and eventually disappear. If you work for PAM and are looking for a good alternative, go with Central Transport, their sister LTL company. You will be doing a lot of dock work to start but hey, it's steady work and I keep seeing terminals surrounding the Central Transport ones closing down and going dark while the CT one just keeps on looking busier and busier.
