youre asking drivers to be out 24 hrs a day 5 days a week and paying UP TO $640 per week average. im assuming that since its an o/o with a couple trucks there are no benefits involved. you may find drivers, but you cant be picky on who you hire at that rate. cant believe you can only offer 1500-2000 per week even with running only 5 days, but it is what it is. way too low pay per mile to attract anyone with any options whatsoever. even at 40 cpm, still would only be up to $800 per week average...not horrible, but not great when coupled with no benefits.

.32 is rookie pay offered by big companies with complete bennies. Good drivers won't leave without decent pay, decent bennies, etc. Have you thought of fair pay and profit sharing. Your largest expense is fuel. If those are controlled, the profit go up. Reward the ones that helped create the higher profit.

For starters, someone who is willing to drive! accident free, can back up a trailer to the loading docks, can drive in the city, understands directions, fills out log books stuff like that.

Good pay makes a good driver. Bad pay makes a bad driver.
That's the way it seems anyhow. I think it's more attitude then anything else but it seems the ones with high pay, more home time and a better working environment have the best attitudes and are much safer and courteous . Probably because they have something to lose.
