72253D8F-FD14-414D-B374-36C206666F5F.jpeg this is a 5 inch reduced down to 4” so it can fit in between frame and block. I want a 5” in and 5” our elbow with egt bung hole. Can’t find one anywhere. Except for a high dollar 400 dollar one

Maybe a truck dealer, Caterpillar, or truck scrap yard in your area?

On a older 379 Pete with a cat you just have to buy the 5" elbow and then take a big sledge hammer and flatten it out to clear the frame rail.

If your handy with a mig you could probably make one with a 5" flange and a couple 45 OD elbows. Put it right where you want it. The bung could be reused from your old pipe.

I've had good luck with cold galvanizing compound or barbecue paint on exhaust stuff. Make sure you coat the welds with something or they will rust up quicker than a Chinese brake rotor.

any reason why this one wont work? i searched for peterbilt 379 with c15 to see how they routed it and it uses the same style bend to get it down the frame on the inside. For whatever reason peterbilt cheaped out and necked it to 4" for c12. C15 looks to be 5" all the way through. Any reson why the c15 elbow wont fit up on my c12? click link below thanks

Can I ask why you feel the need to go bigger? The 4 inch is plenty for the C12 displacement IMO. Even the 15 liters of today are only 4" out at the turbo. If it's more power/torque your after I doubt you'll notice a change. Not trying to change your mind, just thinking out loud.

oh yeah thats a reasonable question and i would ask the same thing. Heres whats going on. I installed dual 6" miter cut straight pipes on my 379. I work with 2 other guys that run the same setup with c12. One guy runs a t800 kenworth and the other guy runs a 357 peterbilt. Their trucks have a much more noticeable deep throaty sound to them on mine and its noticeable. Mine has a bit of raspy sound to it. I like the sound of the deeper sound and its easier on the ears but a good sound. We narrowed it down to having it being necked down the way it is. going from 5 off the turb, then down to 5 after the frame and then to 6 inch pipes. This whole thing may sound silly to some people but you can understand im sure. Smaller pipe off the turbo is gonna create the raspiness
