Just a follow up on the thread, c15 5” turbo downpipe fits perfectly. Exhaust note is perfect now with 5” all the way to my 6” straight pipes.
Where can I get this elbow for the exhaust side of turbo?

So you just wanted loud pipes. Lol.
adayrider Thanks this. -
I have loud pipes my friend. Loud and proud. 6" straights. There was a 4"inch neck don between the frame which causes a different tone. 5" trbo out-- 4" between th frame-- back to 5" and then to 6 y pipe-- to 6" duals. The 5" all the way through now actually made it quieter and deeper. Larger the pipe, the quieter and less raspyOxbow and Oldironfan Thank this.

My Pete has 5 in/out elbow with a separate downpipe that has a relief for the frame. The set-up uses no flextube. Only flextube on the system is between the muffler elbows and y-pipe. It's a Cat 3406E.

There shouldn’t be a reducer at all. Not sure why peterbilt did this. Anyhow, 5” allbthe way to the 6” pipes now. All good. Used a c15 elbow for 379.

Sorry to revive old thread of mine but i have to update a major benfit to me uprading to 5" down pipe. I have a regular hill i have to pull maxed out. I have 18 speed and before, i would have to down shift all the way to 6 low becuase my exhaust temps would climb and not stop climbing up to 1200. By the time it gets to 1200 i would down shift even though i had plenty of power. Now i can take same hill at 7 low and no matter what i do, egts wont climb past 1000. hammer down and to the floor. Makes alot of sense, more air flow. again, stupid on peterbilts part when 5" downpipe fits just fine between frame. Larger piping = cooler egt
Oxbow and BoxCarKidd Thank this.
