Say I drive for any of the bottom feeders and I would like to take my "home time" in a place that does not have a terminal. I live in Dallas but, have a female friend that lives in Boise, Idaho. Is their a general policy for each company regarding this? I am sure most companies frown upon their truck sitting at a truck stop for a few days without supervision. Could this be done with Swift or Crete?
Where can I take home time?

Maybe you need to find a cheap motel room with truck parking in Boise when you visit your girlfriend for a stay-over.
Just saying............. -
Any company assumes you have a place to park the truck while on home time. But, you must consider your load (refrigerated/high value/empty whatever). In a perfect world, you would empty out 5 miles from your house and go home and park in your driveway. But, you get home under a load that you have to babysit (no fun), or, on your 2nd day, you get a call from dispatch wanting to "move it along" and wanting to re-power that load to another truck. Now you have to communicate with the driver, possibly meet him at a mutual spot to switch, Hey wait, you're on home time trying to relax and spending a lot of time doing company business, WTF? You gotta love it, right?

I'm afraid to park my truck at a truck stop while taking a shower! However a lot of hotels have room enough to park your truck. You can pretty much take your time off wherever your particular company runs.
