Newbies got .28 to .32 to start in those days. They are still paying .40 or so to vets and paying mid 30's to trainees who do not understand that rate has been paid 20, 30 years almost 40 now.
Inflation ate the rest.
As long that truck is turning in 2500 a week on mileage or more to be paid a gross of 1000 before withholding, that's my absolute bottom.
They will be paying .40 cents 10 years from now. Or more. Because they can.
It's really difficult now because in team operations with wife, we would cross the USA twice in 6 days and change. Call it 6000 miles. Wife got .32 and I got close to 45 or so. Call it .75 to the truck grossing 4500 weekly Potential earnings would have been in the range of 235K annually filing joint.
My personal records each month is a problem when the company understands a oil change is 25K miles and I need two of them every 5th week since the first a little more than 30 days prior..Last edited: May 19, 2019

I pull a refer. We are paid every 2 weeks. I did a little over 6200 miles on this pay period. Yes, it's hard getting that many miles with a refer and dealing with loading and unloading...but it does exist and is still out there.

Check this one: Click here > Lee & Eastes
Lee & Eastes Tank Lines, Inc. operates in 11 Western states, transporting bulk commodities with reliable service. We have dedicated jet fuel, aviation gasoline and lube oil equipment as well as refined petroleum and liquid asphalt units. We offer reliable efficient service with well trained drivers in first-class equipment. Our terminals are located in Seattle, Pasco and Spokane Washington as well as Portland Oregon.
If I remember correctly, the drivers are set up to stay in hotels/motels instead of sleeping in the truck. That's a question you can ask.Last edited: May 19, 2019

8000 miles sounds like a good month to me, but i get burned out real fast running more than that.. its to much work for flatbed then to chase 600 miles a day on top of that is just to much for me.. i aint afraid to run hard for a couple weeks if they got the loads to keep me going but it gets old after awhile always pushing on duty right when that 10 hr break is up . no thank you

Running coast to coast at 2 trips per month I averaged 12,000 miles per month.
Running local I probably average about 8000 miles per month and sleep at home every night plus I make more than I did doing the coast to coast thing for less miles.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
