wellll i had a brother in law who liked to sleep more than drive--and if i put the sunglasses on and pulled the hat down i kinda looked like him at 65mph
since i was only 15 --i didnt have a license to loose---but i did hate having to hide when we pulled in the yard---and come to think of it i didnt get paid either

i got my start by fronting up 6000 dollars of my own savings to go through a private driving school then hitting the streets and going into the offices of every trucking company in winnipeg until i got a start. I had a job the second day after i started looking! i would go into the office , tell them what i was doing and ask if i could do a test drive right then and there. I wanted to work for jade transport, they are tanker and hazmat hauling, but i didnt have the experience. This was understandable so i just kept going door to door till i got a start. got on with an excellent company, have a realy nice unit and am loving the job. Hit the street and get your boots on the ground and front up in person and people will take you alot more seriously and it shows the kind of innitiative and determination that people respect.

I am a very new driver. I have had my Class ACZ license for two weeks and a day. I went to a very good school to achieve this. I was all set to join one of the big "puppy mills" to gain experience as it is tough to get a job with virtually no experience other than school. I decided to phone every company I could find and I hit paydirt! A local company hires a select number of graduates from certain schools. I landed a job exactly one week after graduating.

It may not be my dream job but that is not the point. I am getting good training and experience and a PAYCHEQUE! I suppose for now.....those reasons do make it my dream job.

Taking the time to do good research in choosing schools can go a long way to securing employment after graduation.

    Good luck to all.

well i was working at a truck wash in fresno Ca. and started telling an O/O that I was going to go to a driving school if I couldn't find someone that would teach me to drive. So he said that instead of wasting my money on a school that he would teach me. Then give me a job after 3mo. it didn't last the whole 3mos. not that I was that good but because we couldn't stand each other.. He did give me a job. I was put on my own after 45 days. that was the late spring of 1982.

Back in those days there weren't many schools around. But they still had a bad reputation.

lord how I survived I will never know.

Me....Worked construction out of high school for my step-dad....
How I learned to drive a truck: Step-dad handed me the keys and pointed to the truck and told me to drive it....and not eff up anything in the process....Which I did......

I learned how to run a backhoe the same way...... :biggrin_25523:
