Where do you find </=10,000lbs. loads?

    I've been a local oil truck driver for 10 years. I'm interested in purchasing a 6 wheel, so I can haul regionally independently. I've been trying to research where to find loads, but all the sites I come across mainly offer large loads; next to no loads at or under 10,000 lbs. Where do I find the lighter loads?

    I've heard some specialty plumbing outfits ship a few thousand pounds of unusual parts here and there.

    You might have a bit of luck picking LTL loads off of class 8 load boards. Just call and ask what the weight is, and if its over 10k, ask if they have anything lighter.
