Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does anyone park at a truck stop near home? I don't have parking at the house but have a truck stop about 25 miles from home, and since that it's only 2 days every 2 weeks is there a problem I don't see. If anyone has a different idea please let me know. I really believe that other drivers have this parking problem also. All ideas welcome...TIA!!
where do you park?

You can check with local businesses to see if they will allow you to park on their property. Some self storage facilities also have sufficient room for a nominal fee.
The only problem with a truck stop is damage or theft of your truck when you are not with it.fishingforgears Thanks this. -
If you're driving now, better ask your company what their policy is. Some require secured parking while you're on hometime, if you're unable to park at one of their terminals.

Just be real careful if you park at a truckstop. Do not let it be obvious you are leaving your truck there, as in, Momma pulling up in the family 4 wheeler and you unloading all your junk, then driving out. Some low-life driver from Possum Breath Trucking might observe this and help himself to your fuel/CB/food/whatever while you are getting cozy with Momma.......

I would clear it with the truckstop before parking there. My trainer at Werner knew someone who parked at a truck stop near his house when he went on hometime and his truck was towed because it was unattended and he had to pay the towing bill which was like 2k.
I park my truck at a small local trucking company. (If you can call it a company they have one truck that haul grain every once in a while). Also near my house there is a truck repair / sales place that always has a gigantic lot that is half empty. I could probably park there if I asked.
You could also try local companies such as Wal-Mart etc. Every time I go on hometime there is the same swift truck parked at my local walmart and my trainer used to park at a BigLots when he went on hometime.
IF all else fails ask your company where they suggest you park or if they will let you bobtail for hometime (assuming u have a place to park the tractor) -
I have a small gas station/motel with maybe 10 spots hidden around back that I drop my trailer in. My truck goes to the house with me. I wouldn't leave it somewhere I couldn't see it.

I have enough room to take both tractor and trailer home. I would suggest you talk to a local company and see if they would let you park your truck there.
