Back in the day there was a 76 truck stop in Memphis with an old train caboose out front that had a CB shop in it. Don’t know whatever happened to that guy but he was good. Went to the one in Wytheville VA recently. Did a good job but the parking at that TA is terrible.
Where have all the CB shops gone?

Most folded up shop and retired years ago. The ones that didn't either died or are still kicking but on life support.

How you like it @ProfessionalNoticer
Stryker 497. Sounds just like your talking face to face.ProfessionalNoticer Thanks this. -
I've had it for about 5 years now and it's the best radio I've ever owned. I've never even messed with any of the side bands but I always hear it sounds good from other drivers. You definitely can't go wrong with a Stryker either. They always sound great right out of the box.Brettj3876 Thanks this.

What are you running for a mic/antenna setup? Got a roadking mic and a 4ft fire stick.
One of the solders broke and we put a newer cobra 29 in for a few days and it sounded like absolute crap. Nothing like the old 29s, the truck my dad runs most of the time has an older 29 that sounds really goodProfessionalNoticer Thanks this. -
I run dual Wilson 5000s with standard coax attached to the upper mirror brackets. I haven't checked the SWRs in a few years so that probably all needs to be replaced by now. The receive on it is pretty good still but I don't think I'm getting out as far as I used to. Just using the stock mic that came with the radio. Like most products in the US, Cobra just isn't made like it was a few decades ago. I wish I still had my Night Watch 29 from about 20 years ago. I keep a new in a box 29 in the truck in case my GL goes down to the shop. You got lucky with the solder but it's still a pain the have to deal with.

Old thread I know, but in Carlisle PA, the only shop left is ours (DTB Radio). The shop that was inside the Petro has been gone for a bit over two years. The closest shop to Carlisle other than us is in Greencastle PA, nearly 50 miles away. The shops that used to be along the PA Turnpike (Breezewood, PA for example) are all gone, and I know of none that have taken their place. Bob's CB shop is still in business on I-80 near the west end of PA, and I'm sure there are some others that I'm not aware of here and there.

How dead is Citizens Band radio?
When you can be parked at any truck stop in West Memphis Arkansas and say something completely outrageous,
involving race, sexual orientation, gender, make of tractor or engine, mega carrier etc....
And no one comes back to you.
It is dead.
